In English 61, Isela chose to write here sixties research paper about a young woman with a dream of becoming a rock ‘n’ roll star. Her name is Janis Joplin. In the late 1960s she left home in Port Arthur, Texas to seek a better life in California. Janis was different. She wore her hair longer and her clothes darker. The other kids in her all-white school didn’t like her attitude. They hated anyone who didn’t act like they did. They called her by the N-word. She was bullied relentlessly. While many kids picked on Janis for her different looks and attitude, Isela has picked her for her courage.
Janis had a dream, and she wasn’t going to let anyone get in the way of achieving it. She once said, “On stage I make love to twenty five thousand people; and then I go home alone. Janis's bold, raw voice paved the way for future female rockers. She was the Love and Passion and Blues. You could hear it in every note of each heartbreaking song.
