Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects a person’s ability to think, feel, and behave clearly.

When schizophrenia is active it can create hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, trouble thinking and lacking motivation. Although some factors on the surface may seem similar, schizophrenia is not a dissociative identity disorder. Many people believe that schizophrenics have multiple personalities, but they are mostly characterized by a disconnection from reality. So forth when schizophrenia is active one may struggle with being aware of their behavior. Schizophrenics may seem disconnected from the people around them and may want to isolate themselves. People may then mistake schizophrenia for depression or bipolar disorder, but it is not. We recognize symptoms based on how a person begins to act and it may be drastic change. Schizophrenia is a spectrum disorder that includes psychotic disorder. The most important characteristics are hallucinations. Hallucinations can involve any of the five senses. Schizophrenia does not improve without treatment and while treatment will not make the condition go completely away it can ease the well-being of schizophrenics.
