Genius – Madness- Marilyn’s Big Break – The Asphalt Jungle

Today, I’m preparing my Project Marilyn for three classes.   We are reading William Inge’s Bus Stop, a play that Marilyn transformed onto the big screen.   I’m assigning groups to break down and analyze key components of Marilyn’s life.  I think this will be very cool.  My students are in to Marilyn!

One group will compare the theatrical piece with Marilyn’s cinematic interpretation.   Hopefully,  I can get the group to act out a scene in front of the rest of us.  Another group will re-open the investigation of Marilyn’s sudden and mysterious death.  Was it a drug overdose?  Suicide?  I will ask my student what Bobby Kennedy was doing in the vicinity.  What else?  Marilyn’s Tragic Childhood.  Her Modeling Career – The Nude Calendar!  Mental Illness in the Family.  Addiction to Barbiturates.  Method Acting at the Actors Studio.  Below I practice with Marilyn’s Big Break – The Asphalt Jungle.  I had fun researching an important turning point in Marilyn’s life.  I’ve posted how it will look in my classroom blog.
