What’s Love?

The Jose Jose song “Amar y Querer” speaks to the meaning true love.  He says many people can like you but not many can truly love you. Someone who loves you will fight for you and do anything for you. When its true love it never dies. In “The Love of My life” it appeared that once China got pregnant, the love Jeremy had for China died. China decided to testify against him in court, she was only looking out for herself. Just like Jeremy pointed all the blame on her saying she made him get rid of it. None of them wanted to take the blame for what they both committed. Like the song, says “El que quiere pretende olvidar, Y nunca llorar y nunca llorar, El querer pronto puede acabar” (The one who likes you tends to forget, never cries, and soon stops liking you.)

High School Love Gone Wrong

“The Love of My Life” is a story  about love, betrayal, and murder. These high school lovers were two smart young adults with a whole life ahead of them. They both had big dreams and goals. They never imagined a baby would come in between them. They committed a horrendous crime when they decided to dump their new-born baby in a plastic bag and dump it in the dumpster in back of the motel. They were charged for murder. They both turned their backs on each other once they were arrested, so was it true love? He could no longer picture China, he longer saw her the same way. “There was no way to summon her the way she used to be or even the way she was in court, because all he could remember was the thing that had came out of her.” His love had died.

What Love Is

Jose Jose might have written this song because many people confuse what the meaning of love is. Love is shown and proven with actions not words or phrases. Love is proven when you overcome war and battles with the person you love. You put them first and always want the best for them. You never make them do anything unwilling. In this song Jose explains the difference between loving someone and having lust for someone.

Love as Deep as The Sea

“El amar es la cielo y la luz,El amar es total plenitude, Es el mar que no tiene final.” Here Jose expresses how loving someone completely and fully is like the sea, it never has an ending. In Jeremys case, his love for China had ended. “[Jeremy] Just as they pulled apart, and it nothing she wanted to hear, nothing, that had any love in it, or even the hint of love: You told me to get rid of it.” I guess his love wasn’t as deep as the sea.

Amarte

Jose Jose is known for being “The Prince of Music.” Every single song he makes fills your heart with emotions and tears. That is why he was recognized internationally. Amarte y Querer, is perfect example of what Jeremy and China felt for each other. I believe China and Jeremy never loved one another. If they would have loved each other all the betrayal and murder would of never occurred.

This I believe:

This story touched me deeply. As a teen mom, I know the feeling and thoughts that go through your mind when you find out you’re expecting. It scary and you began to reflect about all the things you will lose as a teenage mother, but one thing that never crossed my mind was murdering my child. There are so many resources you can take, like adoption. Jeremy and China were smart young adults who knew what exactly they were doing. They did not know what love was, if they did they would have never killed their own child. What mother carries their child in their womb for nine months and decides to kill it after. How can you put your hands on an innocent soul and abandon it like if its trash? They both had no souls or remorse. All they were worried about was themselves. Neither of them wanted to take responsibility over their actions. If Jeremy ever loved China, he would have never pressured China to get rid of their child. He would have supported her emotionally throughout everything. Instead he blamed her for doing it and no longer saw her with love, but with disgust. If I’ve learned anything from this experience, it was that if someone truly loves you, they will never turn their backs on you.
