We’re fast approaching our second week of the semester, and I’m asking my students to share a “Book Out Of Their Past.” My hope is to generate a discussion of positive reading experiences on our class discussion board. I know. I know. We are all stressed and confused for what is happening around us. Some of us have become cynical. Some of us are shutting it down. But, I say reading and writing is like therapy. Books open us up and let the world in. You never know what you will discover next. It feels good.
Below I share my most recent reading of Chrissie Hynde’s memoir Reckless: My Life as a Pretender. A Girl with a Dream! Tough. Unflappable. She takes on one obstacle after another. I hope my students take notice: Chrissie doesn’t shut down for nobody….
