Live to Write

If you ask me, our students will become much more interested in their reading when they learn of the story behind the story. I like reading about the lives of my favorite authors. Sometime in the near future I’d like to introduce a juicy memoir as part of my classroom curriculum. Anyone who sits down to write knows how crazy and gut-wrenching it can be. It would be great for our students to learn what moves a writer through the fear and apprehension. What makes a writer stick with it? Below, I share my discovery of Eve Babitz. From the age of 14, she knew what she wanted to to do with her life. She lived to write.
