I’m writing this down here to get it out of my system before I attend an Accelerated Education workshop at the end of the month.  Don’t get me wrong.  I’m excited for the opportunity.  I’m looking forward to learning how to “provide more rigorous experiences than those typical of remedial curricula…”  I mean what could be more rigorous than the discussion of teen pregnancy in the classroom.  My students will have a lot to say about it.  I want to give my students the most effective tools to write about it.  I say reading Sandra Cisneros is a good start.  We should all be inspired by her courage.
