To finish our semester, we are writing compare and contrast research papers.

This time to coincide with the novel we are reading – Motorcycle on the Sea of Tranquility – I’ve asked my students to compare a Sixties topic to a Present Day topic.  Some of the work I already have seen features the struggles of John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama to keep peace in our world.

Marilyn Monroe and Lindsay Lohan are stood side-by-side, and we learn how their drug abuse destroyed their careers. One of my students is comparing Sixties surfing lifestyle to Present Day skateboarding culture.
