Reading the novel La Reina del Sur by Arturo Perez-Reverte was a big deal for me.  I read it in Spanish; then, I read it in English, all the while watching the telenovela on Netflix.  If nothing else the main character Teresa Mendoza is a young woman of relentless spirit and determination. The novel is riddled with drugs and violence, but through all the hardship and danger, it seems Teresa only becomes stronger. 

Like Frida and Pilar, Teresa will participate as a “guest blogger” in my English classes.  I mean, she likes to read.  Here she shares a book out of her past.
